This project stands for the redistribution of high-quality live music videos in as much of an anti-capitalist framework as realistically allowable. At its crux, music is the communication of ideas through rhythm and sound. The introduction of money into the equation invariably obscures that connection. In an era when the turnover rate in the community is staggeringly high, this site serves as a vehicle for preservation and posterity. Institutional memory is key in any setting, and hardcore is no exception. A band’s live performance tells a story about a particular moment in time relative to a particular audience. The intention here is to share that story with people who could not be there to experience it, both physically and temporally, or with those who have no conception of what hardcore is.

Radio Search Engine Instantly Searches Every Live Radio Station

There’s no shortage of apps that’ll play any song you can imagine at any time, but Radio Search Engine is a webapp that does it by searching out what’s playing live on the radio right now. From there, it can build a playlist of other live streaming tracks for you.

Just type the name of a song, artist, or radio program into Radio Search Engine, and it’ll scour the live feeds of thousands of radio stations to see where it’s playing at any given moment. You can then create a custom station that’ll bounce around other stations in real time looking for new songs. It doesn’t work nearly as well as something like Pandora, but it has a sense of urgency behind it since it’s live. If nothing else, it’s actually a really nice web player for radio stations that probably beats out your clunky local station’s awkward RealPlayer pop-up window.

8 Surprising Ways Music Affects our Brains

I’m a big fan of music, and use it a lot when working, but I had no idea about how it really affects our brains and bodies. Since music is such a big part of our lives, I thought it would be interesting and useful to have a look at some of the ways we react to it without even realizing.

10 Metal Albums to Listen to Before You Die

[proxtube zum angucken nehmen]

I have been a heavy metal fan for over 50 percent of my existence on this planet. But when you’re talking about the all-encompassing musical genre known as “heavy metal,” you might as well be talking about something as infinitely complicated as the Universe. It’s that vast, and the amount of territory to cover is limitless, especially for the uninitiated.

10 Punk Albums to Listen to Before You Die

Coming up with 10 punk albums to listen to before you die is a lot harder than you’d think. For starters, it’s a morbid thought, which makes you start asking yourself why in the hell you’re thinking about punk albums when you’re only gonna die, so who cares?

Finding great music on the internet is easy, but keeping all of it organized can be tough. You might have videos favorited at YouTube, a playlist at SoundCloud, or maybe artists bookmarked at Bandcamp. Songdrop collects and organizes them all for you.

Diesen Beitrag weiterlesen »
